Sony has recently unveiled its latest premium flagship smartphone, the Xperia 1 VI. The main highlight of the smartphone is the impressive camera setup which outshines even some DSLRs, claims the company. The company, which is a renowned manufacturer of camera sensors for smartphones has equipped this handset with a horizontal triple camera setup which looks very similar to an existing Samsung device (Galaxy S24).
Pricing and availability
The new Xperia 1 VI has been priced at €1,399 (which is around Rs 1.26 lakh). With its advanced camera system, high-performance specifications, and sleek design, the Xperia 1 VI is set to make a significant impact in the smartphone market.
Premium camera capabilities
The main highlight of the device is the camera capability of Xperia 1 VI which includes a 48MP main camera with hybrid Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). Also, the phone features a 12MP ultra-wide camera and a telephoto camera, along with a 12MP front shooter for selfies and video conferences. The camera setup has been enhanced by ZEISS lenses, which claim to ensure best-in-class quality to deliver photographs.
Performance and design
On the specs side, the Xperia 1 VI has been powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It offers 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 internal storage, which could be expanded further by up to 1.5TB via a microSD card. A 512GB model is also available in Japan and East Asia.
The Xperia 1 VI runs on an Android 14-based operating system and comes with four years of security support (Sony claims).
The device includes a vapour chamber to cool the system for those who prefer gaming on their handsets.
Display and build
The Xperia 1 VI maintains the design of its predecessor, featuring a flat edge and back with a pill-shaped camera island. It sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 4K OLED panel.
The display further comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR and is further protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Battery and charging capabilities
Backed by a 5000mAh battery, the new Xperia 1 VI comes with 30W wired and wireless charging (both). On the connectivity front, the device includes USB Type-C, NFC, a 3.5mm audio jack and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
