Opera browser to add Gemini AI like featrue: How will it work?

Opera has announced to collaboration with Google Cloud for boosting its AI capabilities. On May 28, Opera unveiled plans to integrate Google’s Gemini models into its Aria AI platform. This partnership will utilize Google’s large language models (LLMs) to enable advanced features.

Opera has reportedly announced a significant collaboration with Google Cloud to enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. On May 28, Opera revealed its plans to integrate Google’s Gemini models into its Aria AI platform. This partnership is said to leverage Google’s large language models (LLMs) for advanced functionalities like image generation and text-to-voice capabilities, marking a new chapter in Opera's AI-driven innovation.

Enhanced AI engine with real-time data

Earlier, Opera’s composer AI engine processed user intents and selected the appropriate model for each task. With the integration of Google’s Gemini AI, Opera can offer users the most current information available. 

This real-time data will enhance the browser’s performance and user experience, providing up-to-date responses and more accurate results.

New capabilities: Image generation and voice output

One of the most exciting outcomes of this partnership is the introduction of AI-powered image generation and voice output in Aria. 

AI data cluster in Iceland

In a move to bolster its AI program, Opera has recently launched a green energy-powered AI data cluster in Iceland, which will be utilizing NVIDIA DGX technology. This initiative will further aim to rapidly expand Opera’s AI capabilities, and will be positioned as the leader of the AI-driven browser market.

New AI features in Aria: Expectation

The collaboration with Google Cloud has led to the latest AI Feature Drop. By the time of writing, Aria in Opera One Developer will offer free image generation using Google’s Imagen 2 model on Vertex AI. 

The integration of various versions of the Gemini model from the mobile-friendly Gemini Nano to the highly capable Gemini Ultra, will enable a wide range of AI functionalities. Opera further plans to feature the mid-sized Gemini Pro 1.5 and Gemini Pro 1.5 Flash, which will balance the performance and capacity.

Future developments and plans

Looking ahead, Opera has confirmed that Aria AI will soon be able to read out its generated responses in a natural and conversational tone, thanks to Google’s cutting-edge text-to-audio model. 

At present, this feature will be available for public testing on the Opera One Developer release. However, details regarding the rollout of the new update are yet to be unveiled by the company.

Opera’s collaboration with Google Cloud and the integration of Gemini models shows a major advancement in the browser’s AI capabilities- focusing on future growth. With features like real-time data processing, voice output, and image generation, Opera is set to enhance the user experience and maintain its competitive edge in the evolving landscape of AI technology.
