Cybersecurity experts have unleashed around 20 critical vulnerabilities in Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco smartphones. The new Dangerous virus has the potential to give the access to the hackers to use personal data. These vulnerabilities were discovered within five days between April 25 and April 30, across various application and system files of the affected devices.

These recently detected virus attacks in Xiaomi and other devices under the hood have been mentioned in a blog which was published by Oversecured. As per the blog, these problems have been found in MIUI and HyperOS used in the handsets of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco.

Earlier this year, Xiaomi rebranded its custom operating system MIUI to HyperOS, which supports the Android 14 OS.

Flaws found in these apps

According to the blog report, some of these troublesome flaws have been seen in Xiaomi's Open Source Project apps (AOSP), which need to be patched. These security flaws have been discovered especially in the process of patching these apps present in Xiaomi devices. Flaws have been found in these applications further present in the devices of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco:

  1. Gallery (com.miui.gallery)
  2. GetApps (com.xiaomi.mipicks)
  3. Mi Video (com.miui.videoplayer)
  4. MIUI Bluetooth (com.xiaomi.bluetooth)
  5. Phone Services (com.android.phone)
  6. Print Spooler (com.android.printspooler)
  7. Security (com.miui.securitycenter)
  8. Security Core Component (com.miui.securitycore)
  9. Settings (com.android.settings)
  10. ShareMe (com.xiaomi.midrop)
  11. System Tracing (com.android.traceur)
  12. Xiaomi Cloud (com.miui.cloudservice)

However, there is no specific system in which the flaws are not found, but Xiaomi has not yet issued any statement regarding this security flaw. The viruses were found in these applications and have been shown in detail in the blog. To combat these viruses in the Xiaomi, Poco and Redmi devices, it is expected that the Chinese smartphone brand may soon release an update to fix these problems.

Xiaomi's spokesperson further said, "Protecting the data security and privacy of our users is the top priority. Xiaomi has remediated all vulnerabilities reported by the Oversecured team and has ensured that no user is exposed to risk posed by these vulnerabilities. Users are always advised to update their devices to the latest version of software which offers security updates."
