An Apple Watch again turned out to be a lifesaver and played a crucial role in saving the life of a woman in Delhi (India). Sneha Sinha, a policy researcher, was alerted by her wearable about the heart rate feature on the watch, which detected her abnormally high heart rate. She thought it was a usual notification but this was the time when the alert prompted her to “seek medical attention”, which ultimately helped her avoid a potentially life-threatening situation.

Close call averted

Sinha further shared that her doctors described the incident as a "close call," further highlighting the significance of the Apple Watch's monitoring capabilities. 

Although Sinha does not have any pre-existing health conditions, the uncertain and unexpected situation surfaced and was detected by the watch.

Monitoring and action

Upon noticing a fast heart rate, Sinha used her Apple Watch to monitor herself continuously, even while travelling to the hospital. She eventually recognized the seriousness of the situation and posted the prompt made on Apple Watch, she decided to seek medical attention promptly.

About Tim Cook’s revert

She wrote an email to Tim Cook, where she expressed her deep gratitude for the Apple Watch's role in her life-saving experience. She further stated the ability of the device to detect atrial fibrillation (AFib) and emphasized the importance of early detection in preventing serious health complications.

Sinha claimed to have received a prompt response from Tim Cook after sharing her story with him. Cook also expressed relief that she sought medical attention promptly which saved her life and thanked her for sharing her experience with Apple. 

Cook’s response highlights the company's commitment towards leveraging technology for the betterment of healthcare.
