Yandex, the Russian internet giant on Wednesday launched its first smartphone. The phone comes booted with the Android 8.1 Oreo with Yandex.Launcher out of the box. Yandex is Russia's widely used search engine and the company is trying to diversify itself in order to defend its market share against Google. The company is doing what Google did a few years back by launching the Pixel-series of hardware products.

The Yandex.Phone sports a 5.65-inch (2160 x 1080 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection and powering the phone is the 2.2 GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 630 SoC with 14nm Mobile Platform and Adreno 508 GPU. The phone comes with 4GB RAM/64GB internal storage that can be expanded using the microSD card. The phone comes with Dual SIM support and runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo) with Yandex Launcher.

For optics, the phone comes with dual rear cameras that include a 16 Megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a secondary 5 Megapixel camera. Towards the front is also a 5 Megapixel camera with LED flash. The phone comes with Dust and water resistance (IP54) and gets a Fingerprint sensor at the back. Other features include a 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio. It measures 150.1 × 72.5 × 8.28mm in Dimensions and weighs 163g. Other connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 5, GPS and USB Type-C. The phone houses a 3050mAh built-in battery and comes with fast charging technology.
The Yandex.Phone will come in Black colour variant and is priced at 17,990 rubles (Rs 19,110 approx.) that will be available from Yandex Store in Russia.
