Xiaomi has announced the new Redmi 7 smartphone in China today. The phone is an upgrade over the previously launched Redmi 6 and comes with improved hardware, backed with new features. The Redmi 7 runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) with MIUI 10 and gets Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back along with P2i nano-coating that makes the phone splash proof. Other features include a gradient finish on the back.

The Redmi 7 comes with a 6.26-inch HD+ 19:9 2.5D curved glass display with 1520 × 720 pixels and 84% NTSC Color Gamut that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It comes powered by the 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 632 14nm Mobile Platform with Adreno 506 GPU and comes in configurations of 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM 32GB storage and 4GB RAM 64GB storage that can be expanded to 512GB using a microSD card.
The Redmi 7 comes with Dual SIM (nano + nano + microSD) and runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) with MIUI 10. It gets a 12 Megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 1.12um pixel size, f/2.2 aperture along with a secondary 2 Megapixel camera. On the front is the 8 Megapixel camera and the phone comes with the fingerprint sensor for unlocking and an infrared sensor. It measures 158.65×76.43×8.47mm in dimensions and houses a 4000mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi 7 is priced at 699 yuan (Rs 7,150 approx.) for 2GB RAM/16GB storage, 799 yuan (Rs 8,170 approx.) for the 3GB RAM/32GB storage version and 999 yuan (Rs 10,215 approx.) for 4GB RAM/64GB storage. The Xiaomi Redmi 7 comes in three colour options of Blue, Red and Black and will go on sale in China from March 26th.
