Popular social networking site and microblogging site Twitter announced to discontinue its desktop Mac application. The company has pulled the application from the web and from Apple's App store. It also said that support for Twitter for Mac will get over in 30 days.

The app had an average user rating of 1.7 out of 5 on the App Store, so it is clear that not many are going to miss it. The App has never been as robust as Tweetbot or in-house services like Tweetdeck. Here's what Twitter wrote on its official handle: "We're focusing our efforts on a great Twitter experience that's consistent across platforms. So, starting today the Twitter for Mac app will no longer be available for download, and in 30 days will no longer be supported.''

Time and again, the micro-blogging site failed to keep its Mac app up to date with the latest feature, which was launched in October 2015 for Mac users. Twitter is focussing to put its resources towards working for web and mobile, which are accessed by the majority of its users.
