Opera has launched a new Internet browser on Wednesday called the 'Opera for Android 51'. The Opera for Android 51 comes with a free built-in Virtual Private Network (VPN) that will help in safeguarding the user's online privacy and security for over 160 million VPN users in India.
The company said in a statement that the built-in VPN feature will help in creating a private and encrypted connection between devices and a remote VPN server, using 256-bit encryption algorithms.
With more than 650 million people using VPN services globally, there are about 33 per cent users that are based out of India.
Peter Wallman, Senior Vice President, Opera Browser for Android said, "With Opera, they can now enjoy a free and no-log service that enhances online privacy and improves security".
Once activated, the VPN will essentially hide the physical location of the user making their behaviour on the web hard to track.
To protect the user's privacy, the browser VPN service is a no-log service that means that the VPN servers neither log nor retain any activity data of the user.
The company added that the roll-out of the new "Opera for Android 51" would be done gradually per region.
