Nokia 8.1 with 6.18-inch HDR Display and Snapdragon 710 SoC launched in Dubai

The Nokia 8.1 price is set at EUR 399 (Rs. 31,900 approx), and it will go on sale in European and the Middle East markets from mid-December.

HMD Global has unveiled the Nokia 8.1 at an event in Dubai, on Wednesday. The Nokia 8.1 comes with identical specs of the Nokia X7 that was launched in China in October. The highlights of the phone include a 6.18-inch PureDisplay with HDR10 support,  Snapdragon 710 SoC, dual rear camera setup with Zeiss optics, Android 9 Pie and a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

Nokia 8.1 specifications

The Nokia 8.1 sports a 6.18-inch full-HD+ (1080x2244 pixels) display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and 81.5 per cent screen-to-body ratio. The display gets HDR10 support, 500 nits peak brightness and 96 per cent colour gamut. Powering the phone is the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor that is clocked to 2.2GHz, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage that can be expanded to 400GB via microSD card.

In terms of camera, the phone comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12 Megapixel camera that features 1/2.55-inch sensor, 1.4-micron pixels, OIS, EIS, 2PD (dual photodiode) tech, and a dual-LED flash, while the second sensor is a 13 Megapixel fixed-focus lens that helps in depth effect. Towards the front is a 20 Megapixel sensor with fixed focus and 0.9-micron pixels and 4-in-1 pixel tech for enhanced low-light photography. 

In terms of connectivity, the Nokia 8.1 gets 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, VoWiFi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and USB Type-C port. Other sensors include an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, digital compass, gyroscope, proximity sensor and also gets a fingerprint sensor on the back.

The phone comes with two-tone design and is built out of 6000-Series aluminium with a diamond cut edge.

It houses a 3,500mAh battery that is rated to deliver up to 22 hours of talk time, 24 days of standby time, and up to 11 hours of video playback. It comes with a smart amp, 2 mics, and Nokia Ozo surround capture.

Nokia 8.1 price

The Nokia 8.1 price is set at EUR 399 (Rs. 31,900 approx), and it will go on sale in European and the Middle East markets from mid-December. The phone will be made available in colour options of Blue/ Silver, Steel/ Copper, and Iron/ Steel dual-tone. 

The Nokia 8.1 will be launching in India on 10th December.
