Huawei set to roll out Android Pie-based 'EMUI 9.0' in India starting from next week

The EMUI 9.0 update will feature a new user interface (UI) along with full-screen gestures and will be an over-the-air (OTA) firmware update that will start in India from next week.

Huawei, the Chinese electronics giant announced on Friday that the company would be rolling out its Android Pie-based custom operating system (OS) EMUI 9.0 for the P20 Pro" and "Nova 3" smartphones. The update will feature a new user interface (UI) along with full-screen gestures. This will be an over-the-air (OTA) firmware update that will start in India from next week.

The EMUI from Huawei that was formerly known as "Emotion UI" is the user interface that the company uses on its smartphone and other Honor devices.

The company said in a statement that the operating system comes with India-specific features with up to 22 Indian languages support along with customised Indian calendar as well as deep integration of apps like Paytm that offers greater convenience to consumers in making payments.

The new EMUI 9.0 update is likely to bring 12.9 per cent faster performance with a much quick app launch and other features like consolidated menus, unified design language, gesture-based navigation and on-device Artificial Intelligence( AI).

The company further added that the EMUI 9.0 would be reaching users with a password vault, digital balance dashboard, multiple backup options, one-handed controls and improved Huawei Share features.

Huawei has also introduced the "GPU Turbo 2.0" in EMUI 9.0 that happens to be the second generation graphics processing acceleration technology.
