Apple misses out on the official Airpower release window of 2018
Apple had announced a product in its September 2017 event. AirPower is a wireless charger that can charge the Apple Watch, iPhone and AirPod, all at the same time.
AirPower, Apple's wireless charger that can charge the Apple Watch, iPhone and AirPod, all at the same time has yet again missed its release window.
CNBC reported late on Monday, that Apple had announced a product in its September 2017 event that was called the 'AirPower' that the company said will launch in 2018, which didn't happen. This is a rare miss for Apple as the company has a track record following through the product announcement.
The company is rumoured to have been facing internal development challenges with the AirPower, for which Apple could not launch the product on the expected time.
The report added, "During each of its events this year (2018) -- one in March where it announced new iPads, its developer conference in June, the annual iPhone event in September and a Mac event in October -- Apple failed to mention AirPower or its status".
Moreso, Apple didn't even mention AirPower in its website, post-September 2018 launch of the latest iPhone models.
The CNBC report added that the famed Apple writer John Gruber, at that time suggested that the AirPower had overheating issues, which means trying to charge three devices at the same time was making the AirPower hot.
Apple has been really quiet about the pricing of the AirPower.
According to 9to5Mac, at the end of the last year, famed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo looked confident that the product would release in the first quarter.
