Tamil Nadu: Four friends killed as car rams into stationary truck near Chennai

The incident took place near the Semmancheri Kuppam bus stand, Chennai East Coast Road.

Road accident:  At least four people were killed on the spot after the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary truck on Wednesday on the busy Chennai  East Coast Road, police said. The incident took place near the Semmancheri Kuppam bus stand.

 The vehicle, which was allegedly driven at high speed, initially crashed into a barricade, lost control, and then collided with the rear of a lorry, resulting in the deaths of all four occupants. The incident occurred in the small hours on Wednesday at Semmancherry Kuppam on the ECR.

The impact was severe, leading to extensive damage to the car. Fellow motorists and local residents quickly arrived at the scene to assist with rescue operations.

Mohammed Ashik, who returned to Chennai from Malaysia on September 3, was driving towards the city on the Puducherry-Chennai highway with three friends: Adil Mohammed, Aslaf Ahmed, and Sultan. 

The truck involved in the accident was parked on the roadside due to a breakdown and belonged to a transport firm based in Mylapore, Chennai. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
