Paris, Feb 15: Tennis player Barbora Zahlavova Strycova of the Czech Republic was banned for six months after testing positive for doping, the International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced.
The ITF said the 26-year-old took a weight-loss substance, sibutramine, at the Luxembourg Open last year, Xinhua reports.
"Zahlavova Strycova asserted that the sibutramine, for which she did not hold a valid therapeutic use exemption, had got into her system through her ingestion of the supplement ACAI Berry Thin," ITF said Thursday.
"She is suspended from participation for six months, back-dated to commence from Oct 16, 2012 and so ending at midnight April 15, 2013."
