New York: India's Leander Paes and his Czech partner Radek Stepanek, won the US Open men's doubles title on Sunday defeating second seeds Austrian Alexander Peya and Brazil's Bruno Soares 6-1, 6-3.
The Indo-Czech pair, who lost to top seeds Mike and Bob Bryan in last year's final, avenged their defeat by knocking the American twins out in the semis this year .
Paes has had a dream run at the Flushing Meadows. This was his third win. He has won two US Open titles and finished runners-up four times, and in his 20th year here he has added another trophy to his shelf.
For Paes and Stepanek it was easy going in the first set against the Brazilian-Australian pair.
Soares and Peya gave a stiff fight in the second set, but in the end they went down tamely.
