Iga Swiatek scripted history as she defeated Coco Gauff to win her 2nd French Open title. The match lasted for about 1 hour and 8 minutes and saw Iga beat Gauff 6-1, 6-3. After the win, Swiaktek took the mic, applauded her opponent, thanked the crowd and soaked in the applause.
With this win, Swiatek has now a 100 per cent record in the Grand Slam Final, a winning streak of 35 matches, and 6th consecutive title to her name.
She was just a teenager when she won her maiden Roland Garros title two years ago. She now holds the joint record with Venus Williams to have the longest winning streak of the century. Before this victory, she won in Doha, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart and Rome.
