Santiago: The fifth-set tiebreaker will be adopted in the men's team event Davis Cup in 2016, the International Tennis Federation said.
The measure, approved on Friday at the International Tennis Federation general assembly in Santiago, is aimed at reducing the length of matches and encouraging participation of top players, reported Xinhua news agency.
Currently, Davis Cup best-of-five set matches feature tiebreakers in the first four sets, but not in the fifth.
