French tennis player Jo-Wilfried Tsonga defeated British Cameron Norrie 6-3, 6-2, 6-2, in the first round at Wimbledon on Monday. The 32-year-old Tsonga needed just one hour and 23 minutes to get the better of Norrie, world no. 221 reports Efe.
Tsonga seeded 12, made the best of six break points, half of the opportunities he got from the 21-year-old Norrie, who committed 30 unforced errors in the match.
The Frenchmen is set to play against the winner of the match between Italian Simone Bolelli and Taiwanese Lu Yen-Hsun.
Australian Nick Kyrgios' injury struggle continued as he retired from the first round after he was trailing two sets to French Pierre-Hugues Herbert.
Kyrgios, seeded 20, was two sets down, 3-6, 4-6, before he decided to retire as he continued to struggle with injuries.
