Mexico City, Sept 22: United States midfielder Jose Torres underwent surgery on his left foot Wednesday and is expected to be out for several months.
His Mexican club Pachuca said the surgery took place in Pachuca to repair a broken bone in his fifth metatarsal. The club said he expected him to miss rest of the Apertura season, which ends in December.
Torres has been a regular this Apertura football season for Pachuca and has been called up three times by new U.S. national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann.Torres was on the U.S. team last year in the World Cup in South Africa. He will miss upcoming friendly matches against Honduras on Oct. 8 and Ecuador on Oct. 11.AP
