New Delhi: Football is a sport where players intentionally or unintentionally rub shoulders with opponent players that usually results in fake injury but at time real one too. This year there were a few serious injuries throughout the World Cup, and while many were able to continue playing after the foul, others had to wave goodbye to the most important tournament of their career.
Here are six of the worst injuries that happened in the 2014 World Cup :
1. Brazil's Neymar
The Brazilian all-star is known for his theatrics on the field but after Colombia's Juan Zuniga jabbed his knee into Neymar, it was clear he wasn't acting here. The doctors later revealed he had indeed fractured his vertebrae making him ineligible for the rest of the Cup (and apparently the rest of the team as well).
2. Germany's Christoph Kramer
Most of the German players probably don't remember much after the game because of the after party but Christoph has no memory of the first half due to the jarring blow to his head. Kramer continued playing another 14 minutes after the collision, just for that he should have won some award.
3. Nigeria's Ogenyi Onazi
The Nigerian midfielder said goodbye to the World Cup after receiving a nasty hit to the leg, thankfully he is only 21-years-old and hopes for a 2018 return.
