England and Manchester United football captain Wayne Rooney had a nasty fight with a WWE superstar at the Manchester Arena.
Rooney was provoked after Wade Barrett insulted him in front of his six-year-old son.
The incident occurred after Rooney arrived at his ringside seat. Barrett spotted him from inside the ring, seized a microphone and launched into a tirade.
"In this ring are two men who can be easily be described as championship material. Which is, of course, more than can be said of Wayne Rooney and Manchester United."
Barrett then made a pointed reference to Rooney's son by adding, "I'd hate for your little boy to sit there and watch his own father fail. Because let's face it, he gets to experience that every single time you step on a football pitch."
An agitated Rooney sprang up from his seat and challenged Barrett to a fight.
The 6ft 7in professional wrestler climbed over the ropes and confronted Rooney, who is a puny 5ft 9in in comparison.
But Barrett appeared to be stunned when Rooney swung his hand across the WWE superstar's face and connected, much to the delight of the crowd, which chanted his name.
There had been some previous history between the duo, with Barrett accusing Rooney of diving after an FA Cup match earlier this year.
Incidentally, the fight was staged like most of WWE!
