Johannesburg, Jan 18: Claude Le Roy has reportedly quit as Congo coach just before the start of the African Cup of Nations in frustration at his federation's inefficiency in securing travel visas for players and failing to sort out a dispute over their bonuses.

The website of TP Mazembe, Congo's biggest club, says the Frenchman handed a letter of resignation to a national federation representative in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, where the team is based for the group stage of the African Cup.

Congo is due to play Ghana in its opening game at the tournament on Sunday.

Mazembe's website says the Congo players expressed their “solidarity” with Le Roy. Assistant coach Sebastian Migne also has reportedly resigned.
