New Delhi: They couldn't make the final but Delhi Dynamos FC had something to cheer about after they were named winners of the first 'Fair Play Award' at the conclusion of the inaugural Indian Super League football event.
The team topped Fair Play standings with 77.6 points ahead of Mumbai City FC at 76.8 points and Kerala Blasters FC at 75 points. The Muthoot Group Fair Play award trophy was presented to Sameer Manchanda, Chairman and Managing Director, DEN Networks Limited and owner of the Delhi Dynamos FC team by Alexander George Muthoot, Director, the Muthoot Group and the sponsors of the referees and the Fair Play award.
Alessandro Del Piero, Captain Delhi Dynamos FC, was also present to receive the award.
Based on the number of fair play points earned, the team secured the top position among the participating teams. Securing 77.6, the team earned the highest position in standings.
The football league kicked off from October 12 and concluded on December 20. The tournament featured eight teams -- Chennaiyin FC, FC Goa, Atletico de Kolkata, Kerala Blasters FC, Delhi Dynamos FC, FC Pune City, Mumbai City FC and NorthEast United.
