Milan, Dec 19: Inter Milan beat Serie B side Hellas Verona 2-0 to advance to the Italian Cup quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Antonio Cassano put Inter ahead in the 50th after taking a pass from Fredy Guarin. Four minutes later, Guarin scored with a free kick that deflected in off Verona's wall at the San Siro.
Inter played the final 10 minutes with 10 men after goalkeeper Luca Castellazzi was carried off on a stretcher with an injury, as the home side had used all three of its substitutions. Forward Rodrigo Palacio ended the match in goal, and performed admirably by saving a header.
Inter will next face either Napoli or Bologna, who play Wednesday.
Fans clashed outside the stadium before the match and had to be separated by police.
