Carson, California, Nov 4: Landon Donovan scored on a penalty kick in the 74th minute as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat the New York Red Bulls 2-1 on Thursday to advance to the MLS Western Conference final.

The Houston Dynamo moved into the Eastern Conference final with a 1-0 home victory over Philadelphia Union.

Los Angeles won its semifinal series against New York 3-1 on aggregate. The Galaxy, who advanced to their third consecutive conference final, will face Real Salt Lake at home in the first leg on Sunday.

The Red Bulls took an early lead against the Galaxy when Luke Rodgers scored just 4 minutes into the match.

Mike Magee got the equalizer in the 42nd minute when he connected on a header from David Beckham's corner kick.

Brian Ching got the winner for Houston, heading home a free kick by Brad Davis in first-half stoppage time.

Philadelphia missed the chance to draw even twice in the second half when Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall stopped Veljko Paunovic's shot from just outside the box in the 59th minute and again off a corner in the 64th.
