Copenhagen (Denmark), June 3: Denmark beat Australia 2-0 in the last exhibition match on Saturday before the European Championship.
Daniel Agger hit a penalty shot in the 31st and Andreas Bjelland scored the second from a corner in the 66th.
The Danes dominated the first half. Although Australia had better possession in the second, the Socceroos failed to convert several chances despite Danish side's slowdown following the two-goal lead.
"They were tired. They have had a tough week because they have been training all week long," said Denmark's coach Morten Olsen. "It is important for us that we have a win at this moment."
Goalie Stephan Andersen proved a worthy replacement for veteran Thomas Sorensen, who was taken off the Denmark squad because of a back injury he sustained during a friendly against Brazil a week ago. Denmark lost 3-1.
Denmark will play Germany, Portugal and the Netherlands in the group stage of the Euro 2012 that begins June 8 in Poland.
Ukraine is the co-host of the tournament.
