London: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made it clear that his team is aiming to win the English Premier League (EPL) this season, adding they are not "far away" from delivering a first title since 2004.
Arsenal finished third in 2014-15, 12 points behind eventual champions Chelsea and ended the season strongly as they lifted the FA Cup for a second consecutive year.
Arsenal have so far signed goalkeeper Petr Cech as they prepare for the upcoming campaign and the Frenchman feels the current squad is well-equipped to mount a serious assault on the league's summit.
"The title is our target and we feel we have a chance in a very competitive league. We are not far away," Wenger was quoted as saying by goal.com on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Wenger has confirmed that striker Yaya Sanogo will leave the club on loan this season, with Ajax Amsterdam closing in on securing the Frenchman's signature.
"He will go on loan, I believe he needs to play. He's ready and he'll get an opportunity to play in the Champions League," Wenger said.
