Ballon d'Or winner and Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane has signed a new two-year contract with Real Madrid that keeps the Frenchman with the club till 2020. After drawing Numancia 2-2 in the second leg of the Copa del Rey, the Frenchman announced in the post-match media conference that he had signed a new deal.

The Los Blancos made it forward to the quarter-finals in the Spanish cup winning through aggregate 5-2 of both legs.

"It's already signed. But as always, I go game by game and year after year. I can’t think about two or three years from now because it doesn’t work like that. Having a contract doesn’t mean anything".

Zidane created history with the Vikings as a player and now as a coach as he has won eight trophies with the Madristas, but this season sees his side 16 points behind arch-rivals and league leaders FC Barcelona as they hold the fourth position, behind neighbours Atletico who secure the second spot and Valencia in the third.

Along with winning two Champions League trophies, the pressure of defending the coveted trophy has increased as they face French giants Paris Saint Germain in the round of 16 UCL stage.

The Madrid coach was also voted as the French Coach of the Year by the France football magazine for the second straight year, following his successive wins of five trophies such as the La Liga, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Spanish Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup victories in 2017.
