Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri adds another feather to his cap as the Indian football skipper turns 33 on August 3. Chhetri has been a pinnacle of success for Indian football as he alone has won laurels for the nation in this budding sport. The Indian skipper has set records and is now unbelievably the fourth active International scorer in the world with 54 goals surpassing Wayne Rooney and Neymar Jr in International football. At No. 1 position stays Portuguese attacker Cristiano Ronaldo with 73 goals followed by his arch rival Lionel Messi with 58 goals from Argentina and Clint Demsey from the USA has 56 goals.
After Bhaichung Bhutia, it has been Chettri that has taken on the mantle as the skipper has led India to innumerable victories over the years. Chhetri currently plays for Bengaluru FC in the ISL as a skipper and controls the attacking play. Chhetri also acts as a mentor to the rising players of India as the skipper is catching up on age.
The forward is enthusiastic about the FIFA Under-17 World Cup being hosted in India for the very first time as such a major event in football has not happened before. The skipper roots for the budding stars as they take on heavy weights of the game such as Columbia, USA and Ghana in the Group stages.
