Harry Kane became Tottenham's record scorer in the English Premier League by grabbing a second-half double in a 4-0 win over Everton on Saturday. The England striker moved onto 98 goals, surpassing the previous mark of 97 set by Teddy Sheringham, thanks to two tap-ins at Wembley Stadium.

Son Heung-min put Tottenham ahead in the 26th minute, courtesy of another close-range strike, and produced possibly the highlight of the game with his spin and driving run to set up Kane's first goal.

Christian Eriksen wrapped up victory in the 81st with a fourth goal, smashed home from the edge of the area, after good work by Son and Dele Alli.

Fifth-place Spurs moved level on points with Liverpool, whose game in hand is against Manchester City at Anfield.

Everton, which had a headed goal by Wayne Rooney disallowed when it was 0-0, hasn't won any of its last five games in the league.

The team continues to struggle in attack, with the addition of Turkey striker Cenk Tosun — handed his debut following his arrival from Besiktas last week — failing to have an effect. Tottenham has no such problems with Kane.

The striker is the league top scorer with 20, three more than nearest rival Mohamed Salah.

There was a hint of luck about his second goal, Tottenham's third, with his finish from Eric Dier's cross coming off his studs and flicking up over goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and into the corner.

Doucoure grabs contentious equalizer for Watford in EPL

Watford's Abdoulaye Doucoure celebrates after scoring.

Abdoulaye Doucoure sent the ball into the net with his right hand to score Watford's equalizer in the 90th minute in a 2-2 draw against Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

Video assistant referees were used for the first time in domestic English soccer this week but because they still aren't deployed in the Premier League, Doucoure's goal was allowed to stand.

James Ward-Prowse scored Southampton's goals in the 20th and 44th minutes, with Watford jeered off by its own fans at halftime.

The hosts improved after the break, mainly thanks to the introduction of club captain Troy Deeney up front, and his strike partner Andre Gray reduced the deficit in the 58th minute.

Deeney was involved in the controversial equalizer, heading the ball across the six-yard box where Doucoure arrived late to get in front of goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and push it into the net.

Southampton's players protested in vain.

Since fighting hard to retain manager Marco Silva's services in November following interest from Everton, Watford has won just two of its 10 Premier League matches, losing seven of them.

From contending for the top four, Watford has plunged to 10th place and is only six points above the relegation zone because of the congested nature of the bottom half of the standings.

Silva has been widely hailed since he arrived in England last season for his work at Hull, which still went down under the Portuguese coach, and Watford.

Silva recently dismissed suggestions that Everton's interest is behind Watford's slump, instead blaming it on injuries and players getting sent off in games.

Lanzini, Arnautovic inspire West Ham win at Huddersfield

West Ham players celebrate after scoring.

West Ham attackers Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic combined to inspire the team to a 4-1 win at Huddersfield in the English Premier League on Saturday.

Arnautovic — playing in a new role as a lone striker — put West Ham 2-1 ahead by scoring inside the first 30 seconds of the second half. Then the Austrian set up goals for Lanzini in the 56th and 61st minutes.

Mark Noble's opener for the London side in the 25th was cancelled out before the interval by Huddersfield midfielder Joe Lolley. Lolley was at fault for Noble's goal, giving away possession on the edge of his area.

Huddersfield started the day two points and four places above West Ham in the standings, but the visitors have now lost only one of their last eight league games under David Moyes, who registered his 200th top-flight win as a manager.

Chelsea misfires again in 0-0 draw against Leicester

Leicester City's Chilwell is being shown a red card against Chelsea

Misfiring Chelsea missed the chance to climb into second place in the English Premier League by drawing 0-0 at home to 10-man Leicester on Saturday.

It was a third straight goalless draw involving Chelsea in all competitions — and a fourth in the team's last seven matches.

Leicester dominated at Stamford Bridge until Leicester left back Ben Chilwell was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the 68th minute for a lunge at Victor Moses.

Chelsea applied pressure after that but rarely threatened Kasper Schmeichel, who easily clawed away a free kick from Marcos Alonso in injury time.

Chelsea stayed in third place, behind second-place Manchester United on goal difference and 15 points off leader Manchester City.

Its other goalless draws in the past seven days came against Norwich in the FA Cup and Arsenal in the first leg of their League Cup semifinal.

Gary Cahill came off in the 33rd minute for Chelsea with an apparent hamstring injury.
