Kuala Lumpur, Jan 17: It was a mixed day for Indian shuttlers at the Malaysia Open Super Series. Women's top seed Saina Nehwal cruised into the quarters while India's top male shuttler, P. Kashyap, went down fighting in the second round here Thursday.
Saina was in blistering form as she dispatched Hong Kong's Pui Yin Yip in straight games 21-12, 21-9 in a match that lasted just half hour.
The Olympic bronze medallist will now take on Nozomi Okuhara of Japan in the quarterfinals.
There was disappointment for Kashyap as he went down to sixth seed Jan O Jorgensen of Denmark 17-21, 14-21 in the men's singles event.
The Olympic quarterfinalist struggled with an injury on his right leg that seemed to hamper his movement. Kashyap had pulled his muscle in his first round victory Wednesday.
