Tarn Taran, Punjab: Denmark, Canada and New Zealand recorded victories in the religious town of Chohla Sahib near here today, which played host to four matches of the fifth Kabaddi World Cup 2014.
In the first match of the day in men's section, Denmark defeated Sweden 45-42. At half time, the score was tied 21-21, but it were the Denmark team that emerged victorious in the end.
For Denmark, raiders Christian scored 13 points, Fredric scored nine and stopper Simon scored five points. For Sweden, raiders Parminder and Mandeep scored 15 points each, while stopper Ajaydeep had seven.
In the second match in men's section, the Canadians defeated Argentina by a big margin of 59-22. Canadian raiders Vicky Ghotra scored 17 points, Gurpreet scored 13 points while stoppers Kulwinder Samra and Varinder scored six and five points respectively.
For Argentina, Namuel and Bruno Alberto scored seven and eight points respectively.
The New Zealand team emerged as crowd favourites as they defeated Pakistan 38-30. At half time, the score was tied at 17-17.
New Zealand raiders Elizabeth Motu scored 13 and Lani scored 10 points while stopper Sariya scored five points.
Pakistan raider Madeeha Latif scored 13 points and Nida scored seven points while stopper Sumaira scored five and Ruksan scored one.
Meanwhile in the fourth match, Pakistan defeated England 58-31. At half time, the Pakistan team was leading 31-11.
Pakistan raiders Hussain scored 12, Rehman 10 and stoppers Ramzan scored five while Janjua scored two points.
England raiders Jaskaran scored 11, Ranjit scored 10 and stoppers Baljit scored a point.
