Tehran: Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Amir Aziz Ali-Akbari has been banned for life after testing positive for a banned anabolic steroid.
The international wrestling association FILA Saturday slapped Ali-Akbar with a lifetime ban as the result of their anti-doping rule violations, report Xinhua.
Ali-Akbari will be stripped of the gold medal he won at the 2013 Wrestling World Championships held in Budapest in September.
The Iranian 26-year-old wrestler had defeated Estonian Heiki Nabi 4-0 in the men's 120kg final, but he was ordered to return his gold medal.
Silver medalist Nabi will be awarded with the gold medal. Turkish wrestler Reza Kayaalp and Swedish Johan Euren will be upgraded to the second and third respectively.
