07.20 PM: The win marks the end of a historic day for India. PV Sindhu clinches her second medal (bronze) in Olympics, and the Indian hockey team ends a long wait for a place in the final four. On Day 10, India eye further glory as Kamalpreet Kaur stands a chance to secure India another podium finish in Discus Throw!

05.25 PM: (Badminton) PV Sindhu wins the first game! A relatively easy section of play after the mid-game break for Sindhu as she continued to play to her strength. Sindhu takes first game 21-13.

05.22 PM: (Badminton) What defence from Sindhu! She successfully tackles a full-body smash from He. The Chinese shuttler is taken aback as she runs the full length of the court but couldn't generate much power in the return. An easy smash for the point for Sindhu! She leads 18-12.

05.14 PM: (Badminton) What a rally! A couple of cross-court smashes and great defensive pickups from both, Sindhu and He Bing Jiao before the Indian shuttler finally forces He near the net for a difficult pickup. A trademark smash, then, for Sindhu and she leads 10-8.

03.54 PM: (Athletics, 100m Semifinals) SHOCK! Yohan Blake is out of 100m final! He finishes sixth in the first semifinal, clocking 10.14. USA's Fred Krearly (9.96) and Canada's Andre de Grasse (9.98) qualify.

03.39 PM: (Men's Hockey) End of the second quarter! Spain lead 1-0 at halftime against Belgium. 

03.30 PM: (Men's Hockey) Spain has scored against the run of play against Belgium to take a 1-0 lead in the third quarterfinal. The winner of this game will meet either India or Great Britain in the semifinal.

03.20 PM: (Tennis) Germany's Alexander Zverev wins gold medal in men's singles! He defeats ROC's Karen Khachanov 6-3 6-1 in the final.

02.35 PM: (Men's Hockey) Belgium will face Spain in the third quarterfinal at 3 PM. The winner of the match will face either India or Great Britain in the semifinal.

02.15 PM: (Golf) Chinese Taipei's Pan Chang-tseung has clinched the bronze medal after a tense playoff! The men's event comes to an end.

12.50 PM: (Golf) Xander Schauffele of the USA has won the gold medal in the men's event! Slovakia's Rory Sabbatini claims silver.

Seven golfers including Ireland's Rory McIlroy will take part in the bronze medal playoff later today. 

India's Anirban Lahiri finishes at 42nd (tied), while Udayan Mane finishes 56th.

10.50 AM: (Golf) Anirban Lahiri is currently tied at 43rd with five under par (-5). Udayan Mane, meanwhile, is 56 with a score of +3 in the round 4 of men's golf.

10.45 AM: The first semifinal in men's hockey is set! Australia will take on Germany in bid to eye a place in the final of men's hockey at the Tokyo Olympics. 

Netherlands held the Aussies to a 2-2 draw but failed to convert a single goal in the penalty shootout, as the Aussies registered a 3-0 victory. In the other quarterfinal, Germany remained a far more dominant side as they defeated previous edition's gold medalists Argentina 3-1.

10:19 AM: The focus of all Indian fans today will be on the two crucial matches in badminton and hockey respectively.

10:08 AM (Golf): Anirban Lahiri currently tied 44th in Round 4 of the Men's Individual Stroke Play. Udayan Mane, on the other hand,  has slipped a lot of places to T-56.

10:04 AM (Equestrian): Indian equestrian Fouaad Mirza is placed 22nd after picking up 11.20 penalty points after the cross-country round at the Olympics on Sunday. Mirza picked up the penalties after a clear cross country round in the challenging Sea Forest Cross Country Course in the eventing competition. His total now stands at 39.20.

09:54 AM (Boxing): Unanimous verdict win for the world champion from Uzbekistan. That wasn't a surprise, Satish Kumar is knocked out in the quarter-final in a bout that was dominated by Bakhodir.

09:51 AM (Boxing): Bakhodir has been ruthless and the match referee had to stop the bout as Satish seeks medical attention.

09:50 AM (Boxing): Satish is having hard time dominating Bakhodir as he has lost the first two rounds and requires a magical turnaround in the final round to seal his semis berth.

09:40 AM (Boxing): Satish Kumar's 91kg heavyweight bout against a heavy-handed southpaw Bakhodir of Uzekistan has begin.

4:05 AM (Golf): Udayan Mane resumes action in men's individual strokeplay in round 4. Mane on the previous day carded a 70 for a share of 55th place on 2-over 215. Round 3 was completed with a split start from first and 10th tees.

4:00 AM: A gloomy Day 8 saw India's badminton ace PV Sindhu losing in the semi-final and boxer Pooja Rani missing out on the bronze. While Sindhu was outclassed by Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu-Ying, Rani lost her quarterfinal bout in women's middleweight category to second seed and 2016 Rio Olympics bronze medallist, Li Qian. Amit Panghal was also handed a stunning 1-4 loss by Rio Games silver-medallist Yuberjen Martinez.

Stars of the day were undoubtedly the women's hockey team and Kamalpreet Kaur. Rani Rampal's side defeated South Africa 4-3 and eventually progressed into the quarters. Kaur also produced one of the best performances by an Indian track and field athlete at the Games. 

India's very little action on Day 9 will be headed by Sindhu, who will play her bronze-medal match to clinch her second Olympics honour. Sindhu faces China's He Bing Jiao, an opponent who has beaten the Indian nine times so far in 15 meetings. With eyes on a medal, Satish Kumar will also face Bakhodir Jalolov of Uzbekistan in the quarter-final. Indian men's hockey team, who are vying for a semi-final berth in the quadrennial event after a hiatus of 41 years, will meet Great Britain in the quarterfinals.
