Brawls between players that made headlines in 2013

New Delhi: The year 2013 was marked with incidents where players resorted to all sorts of measures to outdo others. Sledging, staring during the game is usual in almost every sport, but to put the spirit of game under threat amounts to serious disrespect for sports.From the nasty IPL face-off between rival captains who also shared the Indian dressing room, to the dreadful fight between Aussie batsman David Warner and Englishman Joe Root in a bar. Here, we present you top unforgettable on-field brawls of 2013: 1. Kohli-Gambhir scuffle: Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir who are known for their on field aggression, had a dreadful brawl among each other during an IPL-6 match being played between Gambhir's Kolkata Knight Riders and Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both were caught on camera swapping verbal volley and angry gestures. 2. Jadeja-Raina war of words:Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja, considered off-field close friends, were involved in an angry war of words during an ODI in West Indies earlier this year. The argument happened when Raina dropped a catch off Jadeja's ball and on this the left-arm spinner lost his cool and charged at Raina, who was caught napping with the sudden outburst. The incident earned them a warning from the BCCI. 3. Monty Panesar peeing incident:English spinner Monty Panesar in July 2013 ashamed everyone with his shameful act. He urinated on a Brighton's nightclub doorman and for this he was fined by police and released by county side Sussex. 4. England players urinated on Oval's pitch:After sealing the Ashes series 3-0 at Oval, English players celebrated their win with disrespecting Oval pitch. Stuart Broad, Kevin Pietersen and Jimmy Anderson allegedly urinated on Oval's pitch after they sat on the ground with their post-match drinks. 5. Warner-Root fight in bar:Australian batsman David Warner punched English player Joe Root in a bar earlier this year. For this David was demoted to A list team by Cricket Australia. 6. Liverpool's Suarez physical assault:The soccer game turned ugly earlier this year when Liverpool's striker Suarez bit the hand of a Chelsea defender. 7. Its after effect was that a collision occurred on the second-to-last turn of the race with both drivers jockeying for the win, and it resulted in Hamlin hitting the wall head-on and taking a trip to the hospital. 10. Blazers' Leonard, 76ers' Orton suspended over scuffle:Portland Trail Blazers center Meyers Leonard and Philadelphia 76ers center Daniel Orton were both suspended for one game by the NBA for a scuffle during a game on 14th December 2013.The altercation occurred during the fourth quarter of the Trail Blazers' 139-105 victory, when Leonard slammed Orton to the court as they jockeyed for position.Orton retaliated with an elbow to Leonard's mouth.
