Indian rower Dattu Baban Bhokanal has crashed out of Men's single sculls at Rio Olympics 2016.

Dattu Bhokanal’s hopes of winning a medal for India crashed after he finished fourth in quarter-finals of Men's single sculls today.

25-year-old Dattu Bhokanal had secured his spot for the quarterfinals after finishing third in the qualifying round with a timing of 7:21.67 at Lagao stadium on Saturday.

Bokanal is also an armyman and hails from Maharashtra.

Born on 5 April 1991 in Talegaon village in the district of Nasik, Dattu Bhokanal started working with his father at an age of 9 in crushing stones.

After his father's sudden demise, Dattu Bhokanal joined the Indian Army to support his family. Once he became part of Indian Army, he focused on his training and his hard work elevated him to Rio Olympics.
