Indiscipline by Indian athletes may result in their disqualification from the ongoing Rio Olympics at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
According to reports, Indian boxers Vikas Krishan, Manoj Kumar and Shiva Thapa are faced with the risk of disqualification as none of the athletes have ‘INDIA’ written on the back of their jerseys.
It is worth mentioning here that the name of the country behind the jersey is a statutory requirement in boxing during Olympics.
Shiva Thapa, the youngest Indian boxer to qualify for the Olympics in 2012, was informed that he will not be allowed to fight without the name of country behind his jersey.
Shiva will be representing India in the men’s Bantamweight (56 kg) category. He will be in action when he takes on Robeisy Ramirez Carrazana of Cuba today.
Reports say that the Indian contingent is now making last minute efforts to get Shiva’s and others’ jerseys inked.
