India today grabbed eyeballs from the across the globe as an eight-year-old Kashmiri girl knocked down all her opponents to script history at the World Kickboxing Championship in Italy.
Tajamul Islam has become the first ever player from the sub-junior category to clinch a gold medal at the prestigious tournament that had participants from 90 countries.
In the final game, the eight-year-old took down her rival from the United States and emerged as the champion.
Hailing from Bandipora district in Jammu and Kashmir, Tajamul had the support from Kickboxing Federation of India.
Gushing over the historic achievement, her coach Master Fasil Ali said, “It was five-day world championship in Italy and Tajamul won six games in all.”
Certainly, a grand welcome awaits the wonder kid back home.
