World No. 11 HS Prannoy stuns six-time Super Series winner Kidambi Srikanth in a thrilling three-game match to win the men's singles title in the 82nd Senior National Badminton Championships 2017 on Wednesday. Prannoy beats Srikanth 21-15, 16-21, 21-7 to win the keenly contested battle. With this victory, Prannoy had taken a revenge of his defeat in French Open Super Series where Srikanth got the better of him in the semi-final match.
As expected the two Indian stalwarts produced a scintillating display of badminton to enthral the capacity crowd in Nagpur. The two shuttlers matched each other shot by shot and put up a spectacle for every badminton lover.
HS Prannoy dominated Srikanth after a casual start in the first game and won it by 21-15. However, as expected Srikanth made a fine comeback in the second game and clinched it 21-16 to take the men's singles final to the decider.
But, Prannoy showed great control in the third game and made the world no. 2 move all around the court with his deception skills. An unforced error from Srikanth gave Pannoy the Nationals title by 21-7.
Earlier in the men's singles semis, Srikanth defeated Lakshya Sen 21-16 21-18 to book a spot in the final, whereas, HS Prannoy who outclassed Subhankar Dey 21-14, 21-17 in the last four match.
