Indian boxer Kavinder Singh Bisht qualified for the World Championships in the 52 kilogram category after getting a walkover against Malaysia's Salam Abdul Kasim at the Asian Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, today.
With Bisht, India now have five boxers confirmed for the World Championships. They are the bronze medal winning duo of Vikas Krishan in 75 and Amit Phangal in 49 kilogram weight categories and silver-medallists Shiva Thapa in 60 and Sumit Sangwan in 91 kilogram categories.
Top six boxers from each weight category in the Asian event will qualify for the World Championships in Germany scheduled from August 25.
Meanwhile, India's medal count in the current edition of Asian Championships stands at four.
