Lucknow: Rajasthan beat Gujarat 3-2 in a Group A clash to record their first win in the fourth Hockey India Senior Men National Championship 2014 being played at the Major Dhyan Chand Hockey Stadium here Saturday.
Both teams gave a tough fight to each other in the first half and it was Gujarat who opened the scoring.
Vijay Thapa converted a good pass in the 14th minute of the match to give his team the lead.
Rajasthan started the second half on the front foot and finally levelled the score in the 49th minute. In the 60th minute Purshotam Bagdi gave Rajasthan the lead and within two minutes Paramveer Singh Rathore made it 3-1 in favour of Rajasthan.
In the 66th minute Gujarat got a penalty strike, which was successfully converted by Vijay Thapa.
