New Delhi, Feb 8: Delhi Waveriders unbeaten run in the Hockey India League was broken on Thursday after it lost to Uttar Pradesh Wizards 1-4.
UP Wizards entered the semifinal after this victory, though Delhi Waveriders have already topped the table and have assured themselves of a semifinal spot.
Jeroen Hertzberger scored the first goal in the 39th minute, followed by S K Uthappa in the 49th minute, Pradhan Somanna in the 56th minute and Malaysian Gunasekar in the 64th minute.
Delhi's Andrew Hayward reduced the lead by converting a penalty corner.
UP Wizards have so far totalled 32 points from 12 games, ahead of fourth-placed Punjab who have noticed 29 points from 12 games.
It was Delhi's first loss in the tournament. Delhi will play Jaypee Punjab Warriors in the first semi-final, while UP Wizards will meet Ranchi rhinos on Saturday.
In another game, Nick Wilson scored the lone goal as Ranchi Rhinos beat Mumbai Magicians 1-0.
