New Delhi, May 19: Zohail Hamid, the US national born from an Afghan father and an Iranian mother, today served a legal defamation notice under Sec 500 IPC to the scion of the Mallya family, Siddharth for tweeting about her in a deroagatory manner.

Siddharth Mallya, son of the owner of Royal Challengers Bangalore Vijay Mallya, had tweeted on Friday morning hours after the molestation incident that Zohail was stalking him throughout the night at the hotel party and had even asked for his BlackBerry Messenger PIN.

Siddharth Mallya had raised question about Zohail's character, which led to the lady's attorney today serving the defamation notice.

In the notice, Zohail, molested allegedly by Australian cricketer Luke Pomersbach, has asked Siddharth Mallya to apologise withing 48 hours for casting aspersions on her character or face legal action.

Zohail Hamid also approached Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Barkha Singh complaining about Siddharth's tweets yesterday after the arrest of Luke Pomersbach, who plays for Royal Challengers in IPL, on charges of molesting her and attacking her fiance Sahil Peerzada at ITC Maurya hotel.

“I am really hurt, I am disappointed. It is a false statement. My attorneys are taking action against him,” Hamid told reporters.

Zohail Hamid refused to reply to questions about her background.  She however said that it was her fiance Sahil Peerzada, who was invited to the RCB party and she had gone there as his fiancee.

“I did meet (Siddharth) Mallya. Sahil was with me,” she said.  In his Tweet, Siddharth, director of the Royal Challengers team set up by his father Vijay Mallya, had accused Zohail of talking nonsense and went on to allege that “she was all over me last night (Thursday) and asked for my bbm (blackberry messenger) pin”.

She said she went to the IPL party with her fiance Sahil Peerzada, who was an invitee.

DCW Chairperson Barkha Singh said she has received Hamid's complaint regarding Siddharth. “We will take up the matter on Monday,” she said.

A lawyer for Hamid said they will move court if Siddharth did not apologise within 48 hours for his comments casting aspersions on her character.

The lawyer said they demand an apology and if he does not do so, they they will move the court as per law. “He should not have said that,” he said.

Doctors attending on Peerzada said his hearing problem has improved.

“We will observe him for another 24 hours. Its an impact injury. We can't say impact of what. It can be hand or some blunt object, difficult for us to say. Now he is fit for statement,” the doctors said.
