The young Indian team made light work of Bangladesh in the first T20I of the three-match series in Gwalior on Sunday, October 6. The Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian team defeated the Bangla Tigers by seven wickets as they chased down the score of 128 with ease in the first International match at New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Gwalior.
The Indian batters stood firm with strong contributions and took the team to a big win. The hosts chased down the target in just 11.5 overs with seven wickets in hand. With this win the Indian cricket team created a historic record. This was India's biggest win in terms of balls remaining while chasing a score of over 100 in T20Is. The 49 deliveries remaining to win the game against Bangladesh is the most for them in this tally, going past their previous best of 41 balls left while chasing 100 against Zimbabwe in 2016.

India motored well in the run-chase. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson provided the early blitz, while Suryakumar Yadav displayed his brilliance with a 14-ball 29-run knock. Hardik Pandya ended the match with his firepower, smashing 39 from only 16 balls. Hardik's knock was laced with five fours and two sixes. He finished things with a maximum off Taskin Ahmed over cow corner.
Batting first, Bangladesh managed to make only 127 in their 20 overs with the Indian bowlers keeping a lid on the visitors. Arshdeep Singh and returning Varun Chkravarthy starred with the ball as both of them took three wickets each. Arshdeep was adjudged the Player of the Match for his figures of 3/14 in his 3.5 overs.
It was an impressive outing for the debutants Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy. Mayank started with a maiden over in his first International game and took a wicket too. Nitish scored 16 from 15 balls in the run-chase to help India win the match and take a 1-0 lead.
