MI vs DC, WPL 2024 Highlights: Mumbai Indians clinch thriller on final ball, beat Delhi Capitals by 4 wickets

We are down to the final over and MI need 12 off the final over. Pooja is gone on the first ball, Harmanpreet is on the other end and it is getting very close.

Two balls after a no-ball, Arundhati gets Yastika Bhatia caught at deep mid-wicket. A bit shortish one and Yastika went for it towards mid-wicket, could not get the required height and it went hard at Kapp, who took a good catch. MI 3 down for 106.

We arw half-way into the chase and Mumbai are rebuilding with Yastika and Harmanpreet in the middle. MI have made 80/2 after the first 10 overs and need another 92.

Arundhati Reddy bowls out settled Natalie Sciver-Brunt on her first delivery in the game to give the Capitals a big breakthrough. Delhi Capitals - 50/2 in 6.1 overs.

Mumbai Indians batters Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Yastika Bhatia find some momentum after early departure of Hayley Mathews. Mumbai Indians - 26/1 in 4 overs.

Kapp gets Matthews on the second ball of the run-chase. A fuller one tempts the batter to drive, which she does and gets a faint edge to the keeper and Taniya Bhatia makes no mistake to take that lower catch. Kapp could have got another but for the ball sliding down the leg slide on an LBW shout denied her another wicket. 

Marizanne Kapp almost pulled off a perfect start for the Capitals with Natalie Sciver-Brunt's big wicket but DRS replay reserved the umpire's decision. Mumbai Indians fail to find any runs in the first over.

South African veteran Marizanne Kapp smashed Amelia Kerr for three fours in the last over before losing her wicked on the last ball of the innings. Delhi Capitals posted 171/5 in 20 overs. 

Amelia Kerr provides a big breakthrough to remove dangerous Alice Capsey on lbw dismissal. Capsey top-scored with 75 off 53 balls. Delhi Capitals - 141/3 in 17.1 overs.

Natalie Sciver-Brunt gives Mumbai Indians a breakthrough they needed with Meg Lanning's big wicket. Delhi Capitals captains scored 32 off 27 balls. Delhi Capitals - 66/2 in 10.4 overs.

Meg Lanning also accelerates her innings with two back-to-back fours off Sathyamoorthy Keerthana in the eighth over. Delhi Capitals - 51/1 in 8 overs.

Alice Capsey adds another four off Shabnim Ismail as Delhi Capitals surge from an early setback. Delhi Capitals - 22/1 in 5 overs. 

Shabnim Ismail has cleaned up Shafali Verma. The batter was moving a lot on the pitch. Shabnim bowled this one fuller and on the stumps, Shafali heaved for a slog and misses. The middle stump gets shattered

Sidharth Malhotra is the next one. He is performing for the Delhi Capitals. Begins his performance after meeting Mumbai Indians' players in their dugout. 

Kartik Aaryan is the first one to perform tonight. He moves his feet to a remix of Teri Aakhein Bhul Bhulaiya, Dheeme-Dheeme and more.

DC have a strong squad, just like MI. They have star all-rounders in the form of Marizanne Kapp and Annabel Sutherland. Titas Sadhu has performed extremely well in the International circuit and Arundhati Reddy is coming off a good domestic season. Lanning named Minnu Mani, Arundhati Reddy and Titas Sadhu as three DC player to watch and eye on.

Ahead of the tournament, there was a captain's meet and Harmanpreet Kaur named three players from MI to watch out for. "First one is left-arm wrist spinner Amandeep, she is looking really exciting to me and then KB (Keethana Balakrishnan) she is a leg spinner again. And then SS (S Sajana), she’s someone who can contribute with both bat and ball," the MI skipper said.

500 women walk in's will get a free entry into the M Chinnaswamy Stadium for the opening ceremony and the opening match. The stand is P3 Annex from Gate 18/19

This is the second edition of the Women's Premier League. Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals (the two finalists of the previous edition) will be locking horns in the first match of the new season. 22 matches will be played in the tournament including the Eliminator and the Final. Bengaluru and Delhi host the complete tournament. Five teams, the top-ranked team after the group stage go into the final while the next two play an Eliminator for a place in the showdown clash. The opening ceremony is scheduled to start at 6:30 PM and the first ball will be bowled at 7:30 PM. We are not very far from the ceremony.
