A wicketkeeper-batsman, Taylor is best known for her free flowing stroke play. She was part of the England team in 2008 which retained the Ashes in Australia. On 8th August 2008, she broke the record for the highest stand in women's ODI cricket with a first wicket partnership of 268 with Caroline Atkins at Lord's against South Africa. She scored 129. Next, On 30 June 2009, she scored 120 against Australia at a run-a-ball in the 2nd ODI at Chelmsford, thereby scoring the highest individual score against Australia by an English woman.
