Who is Priyansh Arya? Youngster triggers heated bidding war between MI, RCB and PBKS in IPL 2025 auction

Priansh Arya made the headlines during the Delhi Premier League 2024 by smashing 6 sixes in an over. Delhi youngster was signed by Punjab Kings for a whopping price of Rs 3.8 crore, 12 times more than his base price.

On another eventful day in Jeddah, the young Indian cricketer Priyansh Arya made the headlines in the IPL 2025 mega auction on Monday. An unknown name in IPL and international cricket, Arya managed to trigger a bidding war for his signature on day 2 of the auction.

Four teams Mumbai Indians, Royal Challenger Bengaluru, Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings were engaged in a heated battle to sign Arya who entered the auction for a base price of Rs 30 lakh. Punjab Kings outbid RCB to sign Arya for Rs 3.8 crore.

Who is Priyansh Arya?

The 23-year-old left-handed batter plays for Delhi in domestic cricket and for India A U19 team. He came to the limelight for his big-hitting skills in the Delhi Premier League 2024 and was tipped to find a buyer in the IPL auction.

He took the local T20 league by storm in August this year to come under the media highlight for the very first time. He emerged as the leading run-getter in the Delhi Premier League after scoring 608 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of for South Delhi Superstarz. 

The biggest highlight was his six sixes in an over off North Delhi spinner Manan Bhardwaj. He smashed 120 runs off just 50 balls in that game to display his big-hitting skills and might do the same for the Punjab Kings if he breaks into their playing eleven in the IPL 2025 season.

Meanwhile, just a day before the auction, he registered his maiden T20 century while playing against Uttar Pradesh's star-studded bowling attack in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024. Arya scored 102 runs off just 43 balls with the help of 10 big sixes to help Delhi post a big total of 233 runs in their first match of the domestic T20 league this season.
