Colombo: West Indies lost opener Kraigg Brathwaite early in a 244-run chase to win the second test against Sri Lanka and draw the series on Saturday, before rain forced an early end to day three.
West Indies reached 20-1, with Shai Hope on 17. Brathwaite had been trapped lbw by Dhammika Prasad for three — after putting in a superb bowling performance for the tourists — when rain stopped play in the middle session.
Earlier, part-time spinner Brathwaite took six wickets to dismiss Sri Lanka for 206 shortly after lunch. The hosts had a 37-run lead from their first innings.
Braithwaite took his best-ever haul of 6-29 as Sri Lanka had no answer to the part-timer's off spin.
Jerome Taylor took 2-26 and Jomel Warrican returned 2-62 on a spin-friendly pitch.
