Bangalore, Mar 15: Canada captain Ashish Bagai is hopeful that his team will be able to put up a good fight against defending champions Australia in their last group league game and head back home with their heads held high.
The Canadian players know very well that it may be their last chance to prove a point in a World Cup match as ICC has decided to trim down the number of nations from next edition.
However, for Bagai, it's more about "proving a point to ourselves than anyone else" when asked about rival captain Ricky Ponting backing ICC's decision to do away with the minnows.
"It will be not just about proving a point to Ricky, but also to ourselves," Bagai said on the eve of the match.
"It's for us to put up a good show and give enough reasons for ICC to rethinks its decision. It's not just for Ricky but for ourselves as well. To prove a point to ourselves and the people watching us," he said.
Canada have managed a single win after beating Kenya in the ongoing tournament.
The oldest cricketer in the tournament John Davison who came alongside his skipper lavished praise on former Tamil Nadu leg-spinner Balaji Rao who has shown a big heart taking nine wickets with a decent average of 28.11.
