Sydney: Shane Watson is confident of playing in the Ashes opener against England later this month despite straining his hamstring while bowling in Australia's series-deciding loss to India in a limited-overs international at Bangalore on the weekend.
The veteran allrounder arrived back in Australia on Monday and was due to have afternoon scans, but described the injury as "not too bad" and said his experience of similar injuries made him confident he'd be fit for the first test against England starting Nov. 21 at Brisbane.
Watson said his body was adjusting to bowling and "it's just an unfortunate little hiccup in the last game."
The 32-year-old Watson has struggled with back, hip, hamstring and calf muscle injuries throughout his career, restricting him to 46 test matches
