Sometimes your forte can lead to your undoing and England's premier batter Joe Root experienced it the hard way while playing against the Netherlands at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium (MCA) in Pune on Wednesday, November 8.
Root is one of the best when it comes to executing the reverse scoop, however, the star England batter failed miserably to get it right while facing Logan van Beek in the 21st over of England's innings in the ongoing 40th match of the marquee tournament.

The dismissal happened on the second delivery of the 21st over. Van Beek bowled a seemingly innocuous delivery that pitched marginally short of good length. Looking to attempt the reverse scoop towards the third region, Root got into the wrong position and was nowhere close to making any contact with the ball.
The ball sneaked between his legs and cannoned into his stumps to dislodge the bails. Crestfallen Root looked disgusted with the way the whole incident as he couldn't believe his luck and trudged towards the English dressing room.
Root has been far from his best much like his fellow English batters in the ongoing spectacle. He has aggregated 216 runs in eight matches thus far at an underwhelming average of 27.00. The 32-year-old has just scored two fifties in the ongoing edition.
The first half-century came in the curtain raiser of the tournament while playing against New Zealand and the second one against Bangladesh at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (HPCA) IN Dharamsala which resulted in in England's solitary win.
